Couple of days back we started ‘Best User Guide of LG G3 – 10 days, 10 features‘ series to cover LG G3′s top 10 features and UI related walk through. Today we are giving you all the second instalment of the series.

Day -2 > How to lock/unlock your LG G3 (KnockON, KNOCKcode, Pattern, Face lock, PIN, Password and Swipe) 

LG G3 has the following combinations of locking the Phone, you can pick any of these to lock/unlock. By default the feature KnockON is activated on your device, so you don’t have to activate any settings. Have a look how all these seven unlock features work with LG G3.

KnockON:

With LG G2, LG introduced a whole new concept of Locking/Unlocking the Smartphone, as the keys are on the back of LG G2, many expressed the concern that then it’s not possible to unlock the device without lifting it from the surface, LG engineers has the perfect answer with KnockON. With just a couple of Tap, an user can lock or unlock the device.

KNOCKcode:

After the massive success with LG G2′s revolutionary KnockON feature to wake up and lock your phone, LG is back with one step advancement – KNOCKcode. The Knock Code feature introduced by LG with their LG G Pro 2 Phablet earlier this year, which is now available now on the LG L Series III Smartphones, such as the LG L70, L80, L90, the top end G Series Smartphones such as G Flex, LG G2 and recently launched LG G3. As the name implies, you’ll no longer be limited to only unlocking your phone — now you’ll be able knock (OK, tap, really) as a security function.

To set up the Knock Code feature on your LG G3, you need to go to:

Settings > Display > Home & Lock > Lock Screen. In the lock screen settings, you will find the option“Select screen lock” tapping and then choose “Knock Code.” Passwords can range from two to eight taps. According to LG, there are more than 80,000 different possible combination you can use.

After setting up your Knock Code you will be asked to create a backup PIN, which can be used if you ever forget your tapping sequence. The PIN code you need to set is between 4-16 digits — before you can use Knock Code.

To unlock the phone using Knock Code:

While the screen is off, tap the same sequence you established anywhere on the screen. The Home screen will be accessed directly.

Face Unlock:

To activate this you have go to Settings > Display > Home & Lock > Lock Screen. In the lock screen settings, you will find the option“Select screen lock” tapping and then choose “Face Unlock.” place your face in-front of the front camera, the phone will read your face with few green dots and voila, your Face unlock feature is all set. You can further add backup PIN, just in case.

Swipe:

Swipe is the most common, and in most cases the default lock of any modern day Smartphone, to activate this feature go to Settings > Display > Home & Lock > Lock Screen. In the lock screen settings, you will find the option“Select screen lock” tapping and then choose “Swipe.” Now to unlock the screen, double tap (KnockON feature) or press the power key on the back and then swipe the screen to any direction to unlock your LG G3.

Pattern:

Pattern is one of the oldest Android Lock screen feature introduced with Android Gingerbread. To activate this feature go to Settings > Display > Home & Lock > Lock Screen. In the lock screen settings, you will find the option“Select screen lock” tapping and then choose “Pattern.” Now set your desired pattern (you have to adjoin minimum 4 dots, confirm the same pattern and you’re done.

PIN:

PIN, according to many is one of the secure protection, to activate this feature go to Settings > Display > Home & Lock > Lock Screen. In the lock screen settings, you will find the option“Select screen lock” tapping and then choose “PIN.” To activate this feature, type your desired PIN.

Password:

PIN, according to many is one of the secure protection, to activate this feature go to Settings > Display > Home & Lock > Lock Screen. In the lock screen settings, you will find the option“Select screen lock” tapping and then choose “Password.” To activate this feature, type your desired alpha-numerical password.
